The father and son team of Steve and Alex Primeau have pooled their knowledge and resources to create a family business for which they both have a passion – providing senior living services. The dream to partner in this business began when Alex decided to aim his career towards senior services as he focused on gerontology with a Master’s degree in Natural and Applied Sciences from Oklahoma State University.

While attending the university, Alex interned with the City of Stillwater, OK, in City Planning and Community Development.  Alex got his first senior services hands-on experience in an assistantship with Senior Perspectives with the Stillwater Medical Center where he worked to promote independent living for seniors with depressive disorders.

After graduation in 2002, Alex moved to the Houston to manage a nonprofit assisted living facility where he insured the facility maintained Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services standards for state licensure, managed the personnel, and interacted daily with the residents.  He held this position until 2012 at which time the Father-Son partnership was formed.

Senior services is a second career for Steve.  In 1974, after 4-years in the Navy, Steve pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla.  Following graduation, Steve accepted a position with Conoco in Ponca City, OK.  In 2003, after a 26-year career with Conoco working around the world as a geophysicist, Steve retired to pursue self-employment opportunities in oil and gas exploration and to volunteer with the Habitat for Humanity Restore in Montgomery County.

Since 2010, Steve has devoted his energies to the partnership with Alex to start-up Live Oak Assisted Living, which received its license from the State of Texas in January, 2013. Steve’s passion for improving the lives of the elderly has its roots in his experiences with his parents.  Having experienced the quality of life improvements for both the parent and the children with the security of a safe and caring community, he has worked to create that ideal community in Live Oak.
